Cape 31 EU

High-performance one-design racing.

Built for close competition, fast decision-making and relentless precision on the water.

The Cape 31 European Circuit has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting modern race circuits in sailing, bringing together owner-drivers, professional sailors and highly competitive international teams across some of the Mediterranean’s most iconic venues.

Designed by Mark Mills and built in Cape Town, the Cape 31 is a lightweight, high-performance 31-foot race boat engineered for tactical, close-quarters racing. Fast, responsive and uncompromising in changing conditions, the class has attracted a rapidly growing fleet across Europe, with strong participation throughout the UK and Mediterranean circuits.

From Porto Cervo and Bonifacio to Hyères and beyond, the circuit continues to draw elite sailors and ambitious teams competing at the highest level of one-design racing.

As Official Clothing Partner of Cape 31 EU, Henri-Lloyd supports the sailors, teams and crews driving the class forward across Europe.

Rooted in performance sailing since 1963, Henri-Lloyd develops technical apparel built for the realities of racing offshore and inshore. Lightweight protection, freedom of movement and trusted performance in unpredictable conditions remain at the core of every system we create.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to modern sailing performance, technical progression and the future of competitive racing in Europe.

Performance Without Distraction

Cape 31 racing demands constant movement, precision handling and complete focus on board. From pre-start intensity to high-speed downwind legs, crews operate in an environment where conditions change quickly and every decision matters.

Henri-Lloyd performance systems are designed to support that environment. Lightweight, breathable and engineered for movement, each layer is developed to perform under pressure without compromising comfort or protection.

A Growing International Fleet

The Cape 31 class continues to see rapid international growth, with more than 20 teams regularly competing across the European and Mediterranean circuit.

The format combines highly competitive one-design racing with accessible owner-driver competition, creating a fleet that attracts both experienced professionals and ambitious amateur sailors alike.

With major regattas, winter training programmes and European Championships continuing to expand, the class has become one of the defining modern race circuits within performance sailing.
